July 18th we went to the Dog Mushing Track to learn about dog mushing and the kids got to do a bike race around the track. The place had bikes and helmets that both boys used and then they got to watch a dog pull a sled around the track. During the winter they have dog teams of 6-12 dogs and they pull a person in a special sled all around the hills, mountains and terrain. In and out of water paths etc. The Alaskan bred dogs are bred for running and are very active dogs. Its amazing how strong they are and how well they can pull and follow the commands. The kids had fun going around the track even though it was rough on the weeds and dirt.
